Pics and Vids from the Draw with Italy
The Mutu goal, a lovely example of how to take advantage of a defensive error:
Panucci’s response for Italy, a minute later.
Mutu celebrates the goal. Number one is right, Adrian. Especially if the game ended then.

And, sorry Tricolorii fans … here’s the missed pen from Mutu. Poorly taken, and well saved by Buffon. That could have been a ticket to quarterfinals, in one spot kick, but even without it, there is still a great chance to move on.
A short note: Allegiances aside, that goal from Toni was onside. We got away with one there, kids.

Let’s talk about football ,because for that is this blog here-All the fans know that if Romania will win tommorow “Tricolorii”will be qualified in the “quartefinals” …but we know that, again, we play against a powerful force in Europe- Netherlands- a very beautiful team -they play “total football”,after the perfect results against Italy (3-0) and France (4-1),they are already qualified in the “quarterfinals”…will be hard for Romania to win ,but we already make good results against them : (1-0 home and 0-0 away)…so if the players make another 1-0 for us will be perfect, but for that, romanian players must play 110% from their potentials to win…

To be fair, I trust Van Nistelrooy a lot more when he says that they wish to keep their momentum and play at the highest possible level, regardless of who makes the team tuesday. After what the “A team” had to show for against Italy and France, I imagine the ones who will replace them will hunger to match them.
On the other hand, I believe Domenech declared something along the lines: “The second to qualify is already known, and it’ll be Romania”, so one can read between the lines that he insinuates the dutch will give us the game. If I was Van Basten and had my team show what they showed and then someone would say something like that about me I would give away the game just to wave them farewell heh.
Lets hope for a very good game tomorrow to prove them all wrong, although I highly doubt that if that’s the case, we’d have the stamina to take Netherlands down — but better to lose gracefully and in a beautiful game than win what everyone would jump to call a give-away match.

Wow, a lot has happened here since I last commented. Seems like the atmosphere went into flames. I hate to talk about the racist discussion that has been going on here, but I have one thing to say to that Italian… person .Check your history books and find out why Romania is called like it is. I bet I also know your own history better than you know it yourself. Also, ask yourself why the Romanian language and the Italian resemble each other so closely. And before you make other racist remarks, know this: if you call Romanians gypsies, then you call yourself a gypsy because we are practically from the same bloodline. Just because you got money pumped into your nation after World War II by other nations and consequently live a little bit better than we do (for now anyway), that doesn’t mean you can come here and show superiority, when you are clearly an uneducated person. For your information, Romania recorded in 2006 the fastest economic growth in Europe and our currency was the strongest in the world in that year. Our economy has exploded because the big companies all like to come here because of the high quality of the working force. As a matter of fact, if I were to make a prediction, I would say that Romanians will do better than Italians in less than 15 years.
That being said, the game against Holland will be a very difficult one. Let’s hope that Mutu and co. will rise to the occasion. My prediction: Romania - Holland: 2-1 or 2-0.
Cheers mates.

yes ,you are right,i don’t want to lose beautiful ,i want to win if they will played ugly…we must play with our “weapons” exactly like in the match with Italy(or France)…remember even if we lose ,a draw between France and Italy will be perfect for us,so…everything is possible.

By the way David, I was delighted and impressed to see your website. Keep up the very good work!

It is very unfortunate and degrading for us Italians to see some of our Ragazzi make a fool of themselves with terrible comments regarding racial issues. Please dont pay heed to their outbursts, it very well showcases their own mind set and attitude which is definately deplorable. Keep the discussions pertaining to football.

@Paul, you have made some inaccurate points in your post. You dont have to respond to some attention seekers here, you would do better to keep responding them and at the least, you should refrain yourself from posting lies.
contrary to what you said, we Italians dont have any similarity to your Romanians. Since you claim falsely to know about history, i can assure you that i will educate you on that one.
The territory of today’s Romania was inhabited since at least 513 BC by the Getae or Dacians, a Thracian tribe. Under the leadership of Burebista (82-44 BC), the Dacians became a powerful state. Then came the Roman conquest. The Dacian state sustained a series of conflicts with the expanding Roman Empire, and was finally conquered in AD 106 by the Roman emperor Trajan, who defeated Decebalus. Faced by successive invasions of the Goths and Carpi, the Roman administration withdrew in 271.
I agree with the bit that the word romania originated from the word Roma but that is all there is to the similarity.
Romans and Eutracians (original inhabitants of Italy) are characterised by aquiline , sharp , clear cut features, coin like profiles and the Italian language originated from the Tuscan dialect, while your claim that Romanian language is similar to Italian is false. There is no similarity whatsoever. Also, the Romanian ancestory is a mixture of magyar/Dacian/Slavic/gothic/Vandal ancestery with a small proportion of Roman blood perhaps. That is all there is to it.Different people from other kingdoms (or empires) lived with the Romanians, such as the Gothic Empire (Oium) from 271 until 378, the Hunnish Empire until 435, the Avar Empire and Slavs during the 6th century. Much of Romania fell under the First Bulgarian Empire during the 9th through 11th centuries. Subsequently Magyars, Pechenegs, Cumans,Vandals, goths and Tatars also raided and settled in the lands to various extents
And the satement that Romanian economy has exploded is a joke, not a reality because even today since ages, hundreds and thousands of Romanians migrate to western countries and also to European countries like Italy and Spain..the recent census shows the presence of 502,000 Romanians in Italy.
Sorry about that but i had to correct you for posting false things, in any case, returning back to football, Romania did very well to draw with France and Italy although they were very lucky that the referee was on their side when they played Italy. look at it this way, if the Emiliano Toni goal were to have counted, italy would have played a waiting game and would have won 3-0 according to my common sense.
Romania has a glorious opportunity to win tomorrow against Holland and go ahead.

@Porchetta
You do know that the romanian language is closer to latin than italian? It is actually the closest language to latin still spoken. Romanian and italian lexical similarity is estimated at 77%. You have simply not stumbled across the wikipedia article having this information; here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_language. That is not to say we share the same blood, or that our genes or yours were not mixed, ours with slavs, yours with ostrogoths etc. of course, just the same ancestry. And we are not saying that because we enjoy it, be assured — simply explaining the situation.
Take care and good luck to your team, despite the bad blood running rampant between supporters at the moment — qualification frills, can’t be helped. Just a few more hours before it’s settled.

Porchetta you are making progress. …Just got a little advice from Paul and you are already getting educated by studding your history. Now.. the book that you read might be biased but studding is a good thing. By the way, Romanians are regarded as descendents of the Romans and the language is most similar to Italian yet a Romanian should never be proud of having common national characteristics with someone that makes racist comments… like you. You also know the difference between Gypsies and Romanians therefore do not be a Gipsy…be an Italian and remember one most important thing…God made them all so who are we to consider ourselves special….let’s study the unbiased book of history where God tells us that we are all special.

@Porchetta
Italians are also immigrants. Check New York. The only difference is that Romanians who are in the USA actually make very good impressions (the second spoken language inside Microsoft is Romanian). All of the Romanians who are in western countries work hard and are honest. With gypsies, it’s another story. But they are not Romanians, they just say they are. Don’t let yourself be brainwashed by the media. As for you saying that the economic explosion is a joke, I gave you FACTS from English prestigious economic papers: Romania had the strongest currency in 2006 in the world and the greatest economic growth in Europe.
So open your mind a little bit.

Quote from Wikipedia:
“With a GDP of around $264 billion and a GDP per capita (PPP) of $12,285 estimated for 2008, Romania is an upper-middle income country economy”.
Porchetta and other ignorants, go to this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romania and read the whole section on Economy.
Yes, we’ve had some problems in the 90s (what do you expect after decades of cummunism?). The western media was sure quick to report our orphans and gypsies, making it a lot worse than it was. Now, usually, when there is a tv show about Romania, the western media shows the same thing: poverty. Why? It’s easy: because it “sells” and it makes their own country look soooo dandy and good. However, you must be stupid and stubborn to a great degree not to realize that in fact the reality is very different nowadays and that a lot has indeed changed starting with the late 90s.

Also, you may want to check out this particular article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Romania

Porchetta:
how do you explained that i don’t learn italian in the school, but if i reading italian language (tv stations, italian papers etc)I,myself,i UNDERSTAND PERFECT (italian language is like a romanian dialect for me,it’s very easy to understand),for ex. my cousin work in Italy(constructions)-Grosseto(near by)legally (he pay taxes for italy governament, all is perfect) but when he going in Italy, after just 2 MONTHS speak now italian language PERFECT!!!( he don’t learn italian language in the school in Romania) HOW IS POSSIBLE??? Walter Zenga speak romanian very well ,he learn when he was coach in Romania, without big problems.
i know that you, italians don’t like very much romanians,i hope you make differece from the good persons and bad persons….bad persons is in every country, if you saying that Romania is just bad people, i’m sorry for you for you thinking like that…ciao! arrivederci!

@paul and all romanian friends here, iam not here to spill bad blood like some of my reckless compatriots were doing, but i have to admit that some of the claims made by Paul is ridiculous and he is posting things which arrives from half baked knowledge..He talks about Italian immigrants in America and dares to compare them with Romanian immigrants..lol..
The whole world knows that America was discovered by Colombus an Italian and also that America is named after Amerigo Vespucci. It is but common knowledge that Italians have made an irreplacable and a mighty impact on the American economy and they are scattered and mingled with the American ways of life , be it in entertainment, sports, erudite contributionary feilds–whatsoever. Sadly, the whole world just loves to mention about MAfia OR cOSA nOSTRA..Also, i can bring to your notice that the Italians who immigrate to English speaking countries are mainly from the island of Sicilia and the south of Italia especially the families of poor farmers, peasants and so on.In fact, 98.5%of immigrants from Italia to western countries are from the region of Sicilia, napoles, reggina Calabria and so on not from the mainland Italia aka Roma and above.Italia is miles ahead of Romania in all aspects and it is laughworthy even to compare romania with our glorious country.Recent census has shown that 502,000 Romanians live in Italia and many are still coming in illegal ways. The same holds true here in Spain where i happen to live/work now a days. In Spain, Romanians are the cause for security concerns and they are involved in all sorts of anti social activities like stealing, petty crimes, drug peddling…etc besides working illegally in OBRAS(construction sectors) as AL Banils and so on.Look guys, please dont misunderstand me, iam not posting here to ridicule or insult Romanians. Infact, i happen to know a few of them who are really nice persons here in Madrid. Iam speaking in general and trying to clear the confusion arising from Paul´s wrong perception that Romanians are similar to Italians. There is BUT NO SIMILARITY except that we Romans ruled over you in 321 B.C and the name Romania originated from ROMA. The language is different, the cultures are miles apart, the food is different, and even the geneology is different. Infact, as i mentioned earlier, we Italians normally have aquiline features with clear cut coin like profiles and Romanians have blunt features with a mixture of slavic/gothic/vandal/……geneology..i mean anyone can look at victor piturca and say dino Zoff and make the distinction . Adrian mutu with his blunt features doesnt even remotely resemble Luca Toni who has chiselled , aquiline features..romania is more near to Baltic origins and iam just wondering how come Romania is classified as a Latin countr ywhen there is nothing latin about the country.
BTW, wish you all the best for the match today.Honestly, i see that Italia and France dont deserve to go through based on their performances against Holland. Romania if it gets through will be very lucky because it has had to play Holland in the end when obviously the dutch will be resting its key players and those on cards and will be playing somewhat an exhibition match..Romania deserved that draw against France but definately was lucky against Italia. If the toni goal were to have stood, the story might have been different in the second half in the sense that Italia could have played a waiting game instead of pouring forward will all the players.
But as they say, fortune favours the brave,,well done romania

About the Sicilians who immigrated, well… now you know how it is to be judged by the behavior of a handful of people and not look at the majority who is working honestly. As for the economic aspect, read this:
http://english.hotnews.ro/stiri-business-2838425-the-economist-romania-might-economically-outrun-italy-2020.htm
It is an article made by a very reputable English economic publication that says we will outrun you by the year 2020. This will surely happen especially when all the Romanians working in Italy will return home. Check your statistics and see exactly how much Romanians contribute to Italy’s economy.
HAI ROMANIA!!!

And one more thing: you were already told that Romanian is the language still spoken which resembles Latin the most. What better proof do you want? You are to stubborn to realize even the simplest of facts.
HAI ROMANIA!!!

@aul, i rest my case since you openly admitted that Romanian language is similar to Latin but in no way is similar to Italian language. I was just contesting this because some gentleman in this very thread claimed that Romanian language was very much similar to my language which it is NOT!!Also, i have clearly showed you the proof that romanians have no resemblence to Italians in their genetic/physical antripologies and looks..i did not quote my own figment of imaginations but i posted excerpts from relevent sites. Romanians have origins of dacian/slavic/gothic/vandal/..ancestory with probably a trace of Roman genes because of the fact that we ruled over Romania in the 321 BC onwards..You continue to post about ur Romanian economical impact as quoted by some english sites which is ludicrous. if Romania were booming in economical aspects, just explain why hundreds and thousands smigrated and still continue to migrate and pollute my beautiful country and also countries like spain??And dont even try to shift the issue by claiming as handful, one cant twist and mask the facts..Romanians dont contribute to Italia´s economy as per the statistics and details released by our foreign ministry. Infact, Romanians are a bane on our country´s economy and we are fervently hoping for a radicle change as promised by Berlusconi who has vowed to bring out strict rules to eradicate Romanians from our beautiful country. It is amazing that you are blindly attacking Italia and even having the temerity to compare your country with Italia. As i said, this is a football forum, some young foolish Italian got a bit carried away and posts filthy things about Romanians which we all condemn but that doesnt mean that ur likes post blatant lies and ridiculing us and even having the temerity to say that Romania will be on par with our country…
Italia has the best cars( Romania????Nada)
Italia has the best wines( I havent heard about any Romanian wine)
italia has the best food( pastas and pizzas are the best food all over the world.., seriously i am being honest, i have never heard of a Romaian recipe or a dish and iam a connosieur of good food and iam a game when it comes to checking out on foods from various cultures).
Italia is the heart of the Roman Catholic movement..Roma, torino, Brescia, vatican city..i can go on and on..The Pope lives in my country( romania????)
Italian girls are the most beautiful( ask the French president who fell head over heels on carla, i have not even seen an attractive romanian girl..i mean a Romanian girl just turns me off with her blunt, slavic/baltic dead features)
Italian guys are considered to be the most handsome all over the world( sorry about this, iam not a gay but i had to post this because this is the conception about Italians all over the world)
Italians rule america, the super power of this world in all walks of life( We discovered america, america is named after one of us, italian actors Stallone, di niro, Di caprio, monica bellucci …..singers madonna..film makers….sportsmen Dimaggio, marciano………………..we r in polics..we r into medicine..Professor Nitti made an important discovery in something related to Uealogy and is in line for a Noble prize…..)
Italian icecream machines, coffe machines rule all over the world…..(what is there in romania??)
…………………..
……………..
last but not the least, Italian national team are the reigning world champs and are second best only to Brazil in terms of world cup trophies.Italian clubs are the most succesful over the last 15 years…
………………
………………….
you have no argument paul..Dont try to compare yourselves with giants..
wishing Romania all the best tonite against holland. Infact, i feel that France and Italia dont deserve to go through because of their disgraceful performance against holland. Romania is lucky to face a second string Holland who will relax..Romania was lucky to come out with adraw against Italia albeit referee help but fortune favours the lucky!!!Come on Romania get through and kick out Spagna in the quarter finals!!

@Porchetta
Go to Wikipedia, search for Romania, and read the economic section. I am talking about real FACTS here, while you are not really giving any. It seems to me that talking to you is pointless, especially since you apparently are a Berlusconi fan. I have LOTS of Italian friends, I have done volunteer work alongside Italians for more than 6 years. Most of them were very nice people, and (a coincidence?) all of them who were nice were anti-Berlusconi.
I am not going to fight with you anymore, because I’ve given you simple FACTS and you can’t even admit those. Come talk to me when you have read the Wikipedia article on Romanian economy.
Now, as for some of your points:
Romania does have cars, Logan and ARO are some of them. I know, they are not luxury cars, but they sell massively throughout Europe and not only.
If you haven’t heard about Romanian wines, that my friend is not my fault. The truth is that Romania has some great wines. I’ve visited your country 3 times for a total of about 2 months, I’ve tasted your wines and they are not by any means better than Romanian wines.
Yes, Italia has the best foods, that’s true. I love both pasta and pizza.
Although I am Catholic myself, I am not a very religious person myself. Are you by any means talking about the religion that’s responsible for inquisitions, crusades, and more bloodshed than any war? I thought you were.
Yes, Italian girls are beautiful. Romanian girls are much better though.
We also had our share of inventions - insulin, the jet plane, etc.

LOLLL
porchetta baby you are soo messed up =))). pathetic if i might say. Go to your room, shut up and think about what you did

Would you all stop the comparisons between countries? It is so besides the point.
Italians and romanians do not share the same blood, they do share a remarkably close resemblance in language because of the original roots in latin of both. It is the main reason romanian and gypsies (who are romanian citizens) emigrate to your countries actually, it takes only a few months to become fluent. But that is beside the point also.
If you want to look down upon a nation, suit yourself, you know how that is called in the civilized world you claim to be part of. As to italians having sent only the poor and uneducated sicilians and southerners to America, are you so deluded to believe that in the shanty towns established by the gypsies across Italy lives the cream of Romania?
Do you know why we have so many gypsies even? Shamefully for us, it is because until 1880 or so romanian nobility owned gypsies as slaves and used them to do their biding. It was our crime and we pay for it now by having the largest gypsie population in Europe, the 1/8th part of all european gypsies live within our borders. But those are the facts. And now the gypsies, who are confronted with enough racial prejudice in Romania, migrate towards the west because there their illicit activities are more profitable. It happens, it will pass, 100 years from now they will be somehow assimilated one way or another, be it in Italy, France, or what’s left in Romania, neither you nor us can choose otherwise unless we want to have blood on our hands and become murderers.
Live with it and get passed it.

Alright kids. Enough talk about countries and languages and all that. It was (briefly) an interesting discussion, but its gotten nastier than it should be. Even some of the commenters making well-researched points are using racial and ethnic language that I don’t want on this blog. So I’m closing comments on this post. I hope you’ll all come over to the more recent posts and talk about (listen closely) … FOOTBALL. Thanks so much for reading, but let’s keep it to at least partially football-related conversations.
